Ness Gardens

Date: 20th Apr 2017 @ 4:52pm

As a start to our Learning Challenge : Do shoots always grow up and roots always grown down? Year 2 have visited Ness Gardens.

When we arrived we visited a room where there were lots of plants from other countries - we even saw a banana tree.  After that we visited the tulip garden and Becky, our guide, asked us to choose our favourite tulip.  We met Ian (one of the gardeners) who told us about how they made their own soil - it was very smelly!

Then we saw a sycamore tree which was over 100 years old and a giant redwood tree which was 33 years old as Bayleigh counted the rings inside one of the trunks of these trees.  Also, we took part in pond dipping - Georgie found the shell of a water snail.  We found lots of small insects too.  After lunch, we had a little free time where we went on the adventure playground.

It was a lovely day and very fun.
