Unicorns Rule at the Lyme Sports Day!
Date: 8th Jun 2018 @ 3:28pm
What a fantastic day we've had. The weather was kind, the Coaches were on form, Lyme's staff rose to the occasion and the children smashed it! Thank you to all who came to support this event. I know you'll all agree it was great fun. What we love at Lyme is the friendly competition between the teams but also the individual success stories. Many children shone today who might not ordinarily in other Games lessons.
Well done to you all.

The whole school is taking part in the Eco Schools Switch off Fortnight Campaign from 20th November to 1st December. Switch-Off Fortnight is a fantastic opportunity to get the whole school learning about energy and thinking about how we can cut down on the amount of energy we use both at school and at home. We want to make real and measurable improvements to the schools’ energy use and Switch-Off Fortnight is a fun and easy way to get the whole school interested in cutting carbon.
In school we will be running a campaign to encourage everyone to save energy and want you to join in at home.
Take a look at the link below to see why it's so important that we save energy.

Y5 were lucky enough to have a real evacuee from WW2 come in and visit them.
She told us all about her experiences. From getting on the train from Liverpool to Yorkshire to seeing a cow and chicken for the first time to hearing the air raid siren. The children were engrossed and were full of questions at the end.
Thank you again to Lewis' Nan for giving up her time to come and see us!

Year 5 have really enjoyed their first 'Bike Ability' session. The children were learning the safety aspect of riding your bicycle on the playground this morning and this afternoon they were on roads putting everything they have learnt into practice.

Junior Lifesaver Award for Lyme Student!
Date: 13th Oct 2017 @ 3:17pm
Junior Lifesaver - Brodie Roblin
Brodie’s Grandad was looking after her when he suddenly started having severe chest pains. He managed to make the 999 call himself but was too breathless to continue and so handed the phone to Brodie. Brodie took control of the call quickly and calmly and did what was asked of her, making her Grandad as comfortable as possible. Whilst she was on the phone to Emergency Services and waiting for the ambulance, she also used her Grandad’s mobile phone to call her Mum at work and spoke to her quite calmly to notify her of the incident. When Brodie’s mum arrived home the Paramedics were wheeling Grandad up the ambulance ramp and Brodie was still quite unflustered, although a little bit frightened at this point, but the Paramedics said they were very impressed with her and she’d done extremely well all on her own. She still maintained her composure on the journey to the hospital, albeit very worried about her Grandad.
Because of Brodie’s calm help and the rapid response of the ambulance Brodie’s Grandad has made a full recovery.
Brodie’s Grandad’s dart team were so impressed they had a collection for her to thank her for saving their ‘Star Player’ – they raised £100 for her, but Brodie is using the money to set up an Annual Darts Competition with it, The 999 Trophy (in the shape of a heart!) so they can continue to raise money every year for charity and also raise awareness.
Everyone at Lyme Community Primary School is overjoyed with her bravery and we were delighted to welcome the Ambulance Service into school to present Brodie with the Junior Lifesaver award and show all the other children the importance of acting sensibly and responsibly in the event of an emergency.
Enterprise - Willowbrook Hospice
Date: 13th Oct 2017 @ 3:09pm
Y5 have been chosen to raise money for Willowbrook Hospice by St. Helens Chamber. A member of the St. Helens Chamber visited us and gave us lots of different fundraising ideas and spoke to the children about the important work that Willowbrook Hospice does.
The children have generated lots of different ideas of their own. On the 9th November, a representative of Willowbrook will be visiting the children. Y5 will prepare a dragons den style presentation in order to be granted funds by Willowbrook.
Date: 13th Oct 2017 @ 2:59pm
Yesterday, Y5 went to St. Helens Rugby stadium to learn all about the emergency services. We had a lot of fun in the different sessions that were put on by the police, paramedics, community police and park rangers. They taught us all about how to stay safe! The children representing Lyme behaved excellently!
