Spring term 1 2018

Alongside our value of 'Humility' for this half term our children will be:

  • Continuing to learn about UN Convention on the Rights of the Child through class work and in assemblies
  • Developing their awareness of Global Citizenship by learning about 'The Global Goals'
  • Taking part in E-Safety Week
  • Raising money for Willowbrook Hospice by having a Non-Uniform Day

Our focus for Spring term 1 will be -

Our Rights-Respecting Steering Group will be working very hard this half term on promoting the UNCRC. They are planning lessons to teach their classmates about Article 27, leading an assembly and visiting a local primary school to tell them all about the Rights-Respecting Schools Award.

On Thursday 17th January, we are having our Hall, Corridor and Playground Charters fitted - this will help us all to use rights-respecting language more around school.

During the week beginning 29th January, some members of our Steering Group have taught lessons to Y1-6 about article 30 - every child has the right to learn and use the language, customs and religion of their family.

Nursery and Reception enjoyed an excellent session from two of our Year 6 students, who introduced them to Alice and Alex, our Rights-Respecting mascots. Alex the teddy bear will be making visits home with our Foundation Stage children to take photos linked to some of their rights - nutritious food, clean water, play, education and a clean environment.
