Jacob's Ladder or MY LADDER?

One of the toughest challenges we faces was climbing Jacob's Ladder. We had to work together in teams to help reach the top! 

Well done to Candice, Lacey-Wade and Mia who conquered the ladder and reached the top!

Robin Hoods In the Making!

This Year, Year 2 had the very exciting adventure of going to Colomendy and having their first residential!

As part of Health and Well Being week, we had a special visit from Liam who was a scooting expert! We tried lots of different tricks. Take a look at our fun- there were some crashes but we kept on going!

Visting the Dragons of China in Arts Week

Throughout Arts Week we have had the opportunity to explore lots of different parts of the Chinese Culture. We tried different Dragon dances, sculpted a Terracotta Army and designed some Willow Patterns. Take a look at our work! 

Knowsley Safari Park

To introduce ourselves to our new topic 'How would a dinosaur make a zookeeper happy?', we went on a trip to Knowsley Safari Park to find out more about different animals and their habitats. 

Science Week and Dino Dung!

Throughout this week, we have been celebrating science and famous scientists.

We had the treat of watching a science show and then undertook some science experiments related to our new topio- How would a zookeeper make a dinosaur happy? We began to disect dinosaur dung to find out if it was a carnivore, herbivore or an omnivore. It was a very messy job! 

Rugby with the Saints

We were very lucky to take part in a rugby workshop led by James Roby and the other Saints players. We even got to meet Boots the mascot!

Some Children were selected today to represent Lyme at the James Roby 'Tag' Rugby trophy at Newton Storm RLFC. Team Lyme did us proud scoring lots of tries and making some fantastic tackles. The children then got to meet St.Helens rugby legend James Roby and Saints Mascot Boots. Great team work Lyme!

Healthy Eating with Healthy Wraps

This half term we have looked at the topic- How do you grow your own salad? Which taught us lots about healthy eating and plants! From this, during our DT sessions we designed and created some healthy balanced wraps. Take a look at what we made!

Yoga and Positive Minds

Over this half term Year 2 have been very lucky to have Mrs Powell- (Lucy's Mum) to come in give us a taste of yoga. We have all loved taking part in these sessions aand they have linked to our learning of PATHS. Take a look at some of our yoga learning. 

The Maiden Voyage to the Maritime Museum

As part of our learning about our new topic- 'Why is the unsinkable ship at the bottom or the sea?' We went on a trip to the Maritime Museum to find out more about the mysterious Titanic. This helped us in our learning and really got us thinking about lots more questions we want to answer throughout the topic.

Santa and the Cheeky Elf!

Year 2 has been rocked by 2 special arrivals! 

We were shocked to find that Ernie the Elf had made his way into school by hiding in someone's lunch box! What a cheeky elf he is!

On our party day we were practising some Christmas songs that led to the arrival of SANTA HIMSELF! He brought us some special gifts and even had time for a boogie before heading back to Rudolph who was ready for his next journey!

Our Islamic Learning

Throughout our learning of Islam this term, we learned about the 5 pillars of Islam and the beliefs Muslims have. We also learned about the Mosques and what artefacts are found inside. Each of the children then designed a prayer mat using the religious symbols and imagery out of felt. Take a look at the final outcomes.

The Landlord's Cat

This year we worked on our Christmas Play called the Landlord's Cat! The children worked so hard to learn their lines and the songs and really showed how amazing they are in front of an audience! Take a look at some of the snaps we took after the dress rehearsal! 

Finding Materials, Properties and Origins

During our topic work in Science, we have been looking at where materials come from and how we describe them. We have really enjoyed this topic and were very interested to find out we brush our teeth with chalk and that rubber comes from trees! 

As part of our learning we also experimented with slime and carried out some material hunts as part of our home learning. We also made capes using different materials. Take a look at our learning. 

Old toy sale for Pudsey.

After learning about the BBC Children in need appeal, children in Year 1 and 2 decided to set up a last minute 'unloved toy shop' in aid of the charity. Thank you to all the children and families who all pulled together and donated toys and books for the shop. Key stage 1 raised a fantastic £50.00, which will be donated to this years appeal alongside the schools own clothes day donations. All unsold donations will be donated this weekend to Willowbrook Hospice.

Chester Zoo June 2018

To start our topic- How would a zookeeper make a dinosaur happy?, We went on a trip to Chester Zoo!

 We were all very excited and learned lots of fantastic facts about each animal we saw. Luckily, we got to see the baby rhino too as well as having lots of fun! 

Out and About Lyme and Wood Pits Country Park.

Measuring Up!

This week in Maths we have been looking at measuring in CM and M.

We started this lesson by estimating how big each part of our body was before actually measuring them to find out if we were correct.

Daniela was an amazing estimator as she some of her estimates matched the measures! Well done!

Healthy Eating Wrapped up!
