Corporate Social Responsibility

CSR - What is CSR and how does it work?

Corporate Social Responsibility or “CSR” can mean different things to different businesses. For example:

  • Putting something back into the community;

  • Investing in worthwhile causes, institutions or organisations;

  • Providing support to community initiatives;

  • Promoting or contributing to environmental sustainability.

Creating sustainable buildings is fundamental to preserving the world for our children. We also believe that educating children (and others) about the environmental issues facing us and future generations is important. By building environmental features into our building we emphasise the importance of sustainability and educate children about these important values.

At Lyme our vision has personal development at the heart of everything we do; global sustainability and social responsibility are a vital part of this.

As a UNICEF GOLD Rights-respecting School, the rights of ALL children are integral to our values. Our children know their rights and they are also taught about speaking out about those children who may not be accessing theirs. Through our personal development and subject curriculums, we intertwine the education of social responsibility:

  • Assemblies, including Picture News

  • Pupil Leadership groups

  • Campaigns, such as 'Send My Friend To School Campaign'

  • PSHRE lessons

  • Focus days

  • Fundraising
