Our Y3 children shared their history learning with their families today by performing a play all about The Romans. They tried so hard with learning and delivering their lines; developing thier drama skills and performing several songs - including one with sign language.
They have thoroughly enjoyed this topic - especially the unusual parts, for example using vomit rooms and shared baths! All the children can now answer the key learning question: 'What did the Romans do for us?'

Today, Year 4 got on a coach and travelled to Liverpool.
During our morning session, the children were taught all about how the River Mersey was used by people and how it enabled Liverpool to grow into such a massive city. We discussed how goods were transported by sailing ships and eventually huge cargo ships, and also discussed what types of cargo used to come in and out of the city using the river. We found that all sorts of goods were brought into the city from exotic animals like parrots and monkeys to china plates, tea and wool.
After a quick 30 minutes for lunch, we marched across Liverpool to the World Museum. Here, we looked into one of our upcoming topics... The Egyptians. Our guide talked about how Egyptians mummified each other after they'd died. We even performed a mummification ceremony! (It wasn't for the faint-hearted!) As we were doing this, our guide explained about the importance of different Egyptian gods and Egyptian hierarchy within the process.
As a staff, we were all extremely proud of the behaviour of year 4 and the manner in which they conducted themselves around the museums and through Liverpool itself. The children had an excellent time and seemed to enjoy the gory details of mummification in particularly!

During Reward Time, we made 'breathing wands' which can be used to support us when we have uncomfortable feelings, decorated biscuits and did 'scribble art' - all activities to support positive mental health.

This week in Forest School the children were able to experience the winter weather firsthand because it had snowed. We took every opportunity to explore the snow- making tracks, observing it and feeling it. The children were all really excited.
After that, the children made Fairy Fires. Mr. Brooks explained all about how fire is useful to humans but it can also be very dangerous. The children then had a go at using the strikers to light their own Fairy Fires. All the children had their own fire either lit by themselves or with help. It was fascinating watching the fires.

As part of our English Learning, we have been reading the text "Escape from Pompeii".
This week, we have taken part in some drama activities - Conscience Alley (where we were either Tranio or Livia and had to give our reasons for leaving Pompeii). Then we worked in groups, to take part in role-play - acting out the scences from the story.
It was fun and we were able to understand how the characters in the story felt.
